This tag team is chock-full of religious and cultic symbolism. The double entendre of their name alone is enough to tip someone off to the religious implications of the gimmick. The name "The Ascension" in the context of the tag team refers to the team's origins in Hell and their ascent from there to the ring. In the Catholic context, The Ascension is a Holy Feast Day marking the rising of Christ from earth into Heaven after his death and resurrection. The Ascension dress like demons, with menacing red and black colours, reminiscent of the fires of Hell. Their gear, however, is also covered in symbols, such as the Egyptian-looking eye and pyramid in their logo. The logo is very similar to the "Eye of Providence" or the eye of God looking over all mankind that is used in the logos of many religious groups.
