Ted DiBiase, as many wrestlers, really didn't have the most enviable private life. He lived a tumultous childhood in a broken family (Ball 1990, 89, Bonham 2001, 42). Despite the greedy heel he played in the ring, DiBiase is a devout Christian. So much so that following his retirement, DiBiase went on to become a pastor for a baptist church. Even now, when Ted is in the wrestling world, when he signs autographs he will include a Bible verse for the addressee. Like Shawn Michaels, Ted Dibiase uses his fame from his career in wrestling to evangelize for a religion he feels strongly about (Bonham 2001, 42). People aren't very receptive to religious brochures, but they will keep and treasure an autograph from The Million Dollar Man whether there's a scripture verse included or not.
